Job Description:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a
related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8
years of job-related experience or a Master's degree plus 6 years
of job-related experience. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of
Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a
reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected
will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and
must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified
information. Due to the nature of work performed within our
facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. ROLE AND POSITION
OBJECTIVES: As an Engineer who has chosen the art of Switched-mode
Power Converter Circuit Design as their area of expertise, you
would be designing solutions for Space Satellite Systems using
simulation tools and a specialized lab setups to realize
exceptional performance specifications, within the challenging
physical constraints and environmental conditions of launch and
space. You will work closely with Mechanical Engineers on
accommodating device thermals, Manufacturing on process
capabilities, and Supply Chain to mitigate any sourcing
choke-points. A comprehensive collection of simulations and lab
measurements validates the electrical and thermal integrity of the
design. Then for Space, the design using radiation suitable
components is subjected to a battery of Space Qualification testing
and analysis: incl. parts screening, design margin analysis,
derating, thermal test, vacuum test, vibration test, and material
analysis, ensuring operational integrity on launch and in space. We
seek a Power Converter/Systems Design Engineer having considerable
hands-on experience with--- --- Board/module level design of
Switched-mode Power Converter circuits to specific performance
criteria, and physical constraints, --- Simulation and modelling
using CAE Tools such as Simplis, and Siemens EDA Xpedition and PADS
--- Hands-on prototyping skills and characterization of Power
Converter circuit performance in the lab --- Setting up and
operating specialized Power Converter lab bench setups --- Power
Systems & Architecture for complex digital/RF systems In this role,
you will have substantial contribution to: --- Analysis and/or
definition of electrical requirements, power management, converter
performance, components, and interfaces. --- Leading root cause
analysis of complex electrical issues --- Formulating, evaluating,
implementing solutions to technical issues --- Research and Design
of new technologies applicable to Space Payloads --- Technical
reviews of peer work --- Evaluation of vendor capability, ---
Oversight of subcontracted engineering/fabrication/assembly/test,
--- Technical content of new business proposals --- Generating
power module test procedures Travel may be required: Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities: Preference will be given to individuals with
hands-on expertise in three or more of the following areas: ---
simulation and modelling --- > 5years of product development for
performance oriented applications --- familiarity with complex
digital radio systems --- familiarity with Space Payload
electronics --- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering with some
specific learning in Switched-Mode Power Converter circuit design
--- TS/SCI Secret security clearance within 24 months of hire
