Responsibilities

Expectations:

  • Interact professionally with other employees, clients and community partners
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all interactions and assignments
  • Work independently while understanding the importance of constant communication and coordinating work efforts with management and staff Responsibilities
    • Be able to carry out job responsibilities of the Family Specialist position as assigned
    • Carry an assigned caseload, which includes Behavioral Specialist duties and may encompass Family Specialist responsibilities
    • Provide assessment and functional analysis of assigned child or adult. Develop treatment plans, strategies and interventions
    • Submit Behavior Treatment Plans to administration, treatment team (Individual Support Plan) and the Program Review Committee for approval and implementation per contract requirements
    • Provide initial, specialized training to resource parents for children/adults with special needs or developmental disabilities
    • Provide ongoing training to employees and foster families on behavioral dynamics and strategies
    • Fulfill the contractual initial training requirements to new resource families. Provide the initial training for required specialized topics
    • Prepare for training classes to review assignments. Prepare specialized training materials and activities. Set up classroom
    • Consult with the Training Manager and assigned Family Specialist of the (initial) training resource families to review strengths/needs. Contribute ongoing assessment for the family licensing/certification recommendation
    • Perform training with the Training Manager and/or Parent Facilitator, as applicable
    • Provide pre-service training per contract requirements
    • Perform all required documentation on each individual resource family after each training session. Update individual family training files and/or process initial paperwork
    • Develop or update training curriculum for the specialized training classes pertaining to children/adults with special needs and/or developmental disabilities, or for any specialized topic assigned by the management team
    • Provide specialized workshop trainings throughout the year as requested. Provide fast-track (i.e. expedited) and/or individual (1:1) training for resource families in their homes or at the office
    • Respond to behavioral emergencies for children and adults in care on a 24-hour basis
    • Represent A Place to Call Home in meetings about client behavioral interventions and strategies
    • Create behavioral strategy plans for children and adults who do not have Behavioral Treatment Plan's
    • Assist in 1) fielding after-hour calls and 2) handling after-hour emergencies as assigned General
      • Request additional training as needed
      • Evaluate the satisfaction of the individuals receiving services and strive to improve services continuously
      • Contact the administration immediately with concerns or problems
      • Maintain confidentiality for agency proprietary information, agency work product and any other information that would be considered confidential
      • Perform all other tasks assigned Qualifications

        Requirements
        • The experience to provide behavioral strategies and interventions to foster home parents and staff for children and adults with special needs
        • The desire and passion to provide ongoing training support to resource families for children and adults with special needs
        • At least a Bachelor's Degree in social or behavioral science from an accredited university or college. Experience relating to the area of service may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
        • Acknowledge that this position often requires work time outside of the 8 am to 5 pm regular work schedule. Adapt to changes in schedules, job requirements and assignments
        • Must attend required foster care/APTCH (A Place to Call Home) licensing training
        • Must be fingerprinted and granted a Level One clearance from the State of Arizona and consistently maintain that clearance
        • Maintain a clear record through Department of Economic Security Central Registry of any reports of child abuse and neglect
        • Possess impeccable customer services skills to staff, clients and families and the ability to apply them to any situation without fail
        • The ability to communicate professionally (both orally and in writing) with a variety of professionals, staff, families, and individuals with special needs
        • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding individuals and families with whom you work
        • Abide by all A Place to Call Home, Inc. policies and procedures. Includes Code of Conduct policies and Internet/Computer policies
        • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the learning capacity to learn other applications
        • Must exemplify exceptional time and task management
        • Follow personnel practices which include but are not limited to:
        • Reporting to work on time as scheduled
        • Refraining from excessive absenteeism/tardiness
        • Obtaining prior approval by following protocol when time-off is desired
        • Must complete all paperwork/training prior to service delivery
        • Must have reliable transportation and maintain current vehicle registration and insurance, as well as a valid driver's license
        • Must be able to perform the job's essential functions required
        • This position has moderate out-of-office travel

          Salary Range

          USD $16.00 - $17.00 / Hour
